We all love to travel, whilst some prefer an extended trip to Europe, others love nothing more than a quick trip to Bali, or to go exploring the expanses of our own backyard. It doesn’t matter where we are going, what is important is ensuring that you have all the healthy travel essentials.
To ensure that everyone stays healthy and happy on their travels, (after all holidays are all about rejuvenating body and soul), we have put together a list of healthy travel essentials.
HAND SANITISER
Ensuring that our hands are clean can minimise the chances of becoming unwell. To make sure you have clean hands no matter where you are or what facilities are available (especially during air travel), a hand sanitiser can do the trick with a quick spray.
We recommend EO Organic Hand Sanitizer 10ml spray for a convenient purse size & Dr Bronners Lavender Organic Hand Sanitizer 59ml for a family friendly, bag sized option.
PROBIOTICS
Supporting your gut health with probiotics helps to boost your immune system – warding off any traveller flu’s or upset tummies. Herbs such as Andrographis and Echinacea can assist in supporting the immune system, plus we also recommend SUP Travel Immunity as it contains a range of probiotics including the Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Boulardii) strain as well as botanicals and zinc to support the immune system.
SUNSCREEN
Whether you’re skiing in the Alps or laying on the beach in Hawaii, a good sunscreen is important to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays and let’s face it a painful sunburn is no fun whether you are on holidays or at home.
We recommend Little Urchin Sunscreen, it is easy to apply, water resistant for up to 3 hours and enriched with Green Tea, Cucumber and Rosehip.
DIGESTIVE ENZYMES
Whilst on holidays, we often let go of our normal eating habits which may result in bloating, gas and a feeling of fullness. Digestive Enzymes can help to support our digestive system by assisting in breaking down fats, proteins and carbohydrates and easing digestive issues.
We recommend Herbs of Gold DygestZymes.
MOZZIE REPELLANT
If you are anywhere in the tropics or out in the bush, a good non-toxic mosquito repellant that can be used day and night is important to ward off pesky biting insects and the diseases that they can spread.
We recommend MooGoo Tail Swat. It is suitable for babies and children as well as adults.
ELECTROLYTES
A top up of electrolytes, (in addition to water) can assist us to stay hydrated. Electrolytes become super important in the event that you end up with traveller’s diarrhea or are out in the heat, helping you replace lost salts and other minerals.
We recommend Nuun Active, effervescent tablets that dissolve quickly in water, they come in a compact size fit for travel.
A STASH OF HERBAL TEA
Sometimes the familiarity of relaxing with a favourite cup of tea is just what you need whilst on holidays. Experience tells me that whatever tea you choose to take with you on holidays should be sealed and well labeled.
We recommend Pukka Herbal Collection 20 teabag sachets as it contains a collection of herbal teas including Elderberry and Echinacea; Lemon, Ginger and Manuka Honey; Night Time; Three Mint; and Detox.
SKINCARE
Our skin is the largest organ of our body so it is very important to have non-toxic skincare products, even when you are on holidays.
Some travel friendly skincare items that we recommend are:
Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Mini Travel Pack – contains travel sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and skin lotion
Cover Up Buttercup SPF 15 Natural Moisturiser 200g– a great face and body moisturizer with 15+ sun protection.
Equinox Botanicals Hemp Aid – a convenient stick of balm that is great for dry skin, sunburn, new tattoos and as an antibacterial and antifungal ointment.
Now that you have all the essentials packed, it is time to head off and enjoy your holiday and rest easy knowing that you have all your bases covered.
