March 31, 2019 By kunara-admin Leave a Comment

Prep time: 5 minutes
Makes: Approx. 10 treatments

Here we are at yet another change of the seasons, many of us nursing our dry, salt-damaged locks courtesy of Summer wondering how we can show our tresses some TLC. So we want to share with you a quick DIY Cedarwood Hair Mask recipe that will restore strength and shine to your hair AND leave you smelling of ‘day-spa’…mmm.

Flaxseed Oil

A key ingredient which promotes strength and shine when applied directly to the hair due to it’s protein and high omega-3 fatty acid content (we should also mention that the omega-3 levels in flaxseed oil are also extremely beneficial for healthy hair growth when taken orally). Tresses also receive a dose of moisturising vitamin E via flax oil.

Aloe Vera juice

When applied directly to hair can produce a conditioning effect whilst proteolytic enzymes provide treatment for a healthy scalp.

Cedarwood

Commonly used in Eastern cosmetics and hair care for its ability to replenish moisture and promote growth.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 cups aloe vera juice
  • 1 cup OWN chemical free flaxseed oil
  • 25 drops cedarwood pure essential oil – we used Springfield’s Aromatherapy
METHOD:
  • Sterilise your favourite recycled bottle ensuring it’s large enough for 3 cups of liquid.
  • Combine all three ingredients in bottle, replace lid, and gently shake for 2 minutes to infuse liquids.
  • The oil will separate, but that’s OK. Simply shake again before using to ensure you have the ideal ratio of ingredients upon application.
APPLICATION:
  1. Apply to dry hair from scalp to ends combing through gently.
  2. Massage your scalp, then wrap or clip hair back, leaving to soak for 30 minutes.
  3. Rinse with warm water, and wash as usual, shampooing twice to remove all excess oil.
Notes:
  • This recipe can also be heated and applied as a warming hot-oil treatment.
  • Store in refrigerators to avoid spoilage.
  • Treat hair once or twice a week.
