Why You Should Make the Switch to Certified Organic Produce

June 19, 2017 By kunara-admin Leave a Comment

Australians love fresh produce. And if there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that we want our produce free of synthetic chemicals. The saying “organic, or as our grandparents called it – food” rings true today where unless labelled as ‘organic’, most produce is sprayed with harmful chemicals to combat pests and disease. But at what cost to our health and the environment? Read on to find out more…

Currently, there’s a big difference between how organic and non-organic fresh produce are grown. Non-organic produce is typically sprayed with synthetic chemicals, such as herbicides, insecticides and fungicides. Sadly, we unknowingly digest these chemicals with the produce, potentially producing harmful effects to our health. The chemicals can also damage nutrients in the soil, waterways and the surrounding natural environment, jeopardising the health of the environment for future generations.

“If a nutrient isn’t in the soil, it can’t be in the food”

Organic produce is grown without synthetic chemicals; however, the farmers have chosen not to complete the certification process. Certified organic entails one step further from organic and requires a full regulatory process to become a certified farm. It takes three years to become certified organic to ensure all standards regulated by the certifying body have been met. These standards include complete absence of synthetic chemicals to help protect and nourish the soil, surrounding environment and fresh produce. This allows the natural flavours and aromas of organic produce to shine, creating delightfully tasty fruit and veg.

Making the switch to chemical free, organic or certified produce gives you peace of mind that you’re eating clean fresh produce, free of synthetic chemicals. It also supports the health of our natural environment for the benefit of future generations.

We are proud to provide certified organic, organic and chemical free fresh produce at Kunara. Head to Kunara today to shop for all your fresh produce and taste the difference.
