5 quick gluten-free food swaps

Whether you have coeliac disease or gluten sensitivity, going gluten-free can seem really daunting at first. It can also sometimes be tricky to source everyday gluten-free foods, which is stress we just don’t need!

With this in mind, we strive to ensure our coeliac and gluten-sensitive friends can shop in the one spot for all their gluten-free needs. This includes our huge range of gluten-free breads, pasta, muesli, snacks, dairy and heaps more goodies. We are committed to creating a healthier, happier world by enhancing wellness through good food, and this is particularly true for our coeliac and gluten-sensitive friends who sometimes need a bit of extra love!

At Kunara, we’re proud to support Coeliac Australia’s Coeliac Awareness Week from 13 – 20 March 2019.

SWAP 1: PASTA

Refined wheat pasta for legume-based pasta. Legumes are a good source of fibre, b vitamins and protein. They are gluten free, vegan and taste delicious and can substitute in any pasta-based meal. We love Perfect Earth’s organic pasta range!

SWAP 2: WRAPS

Wheat based wraps for organic GF nori sheets. Nori contains iodine which is an essential micronutrient required healthy thyroid function. Key tip is to toast the nori sheet for the perfect salad wrap. We love Honest Sea’s Nori Sheets.

SWAP 3: GLUTEN SNACKS

Snacks containing gluten for homemade kale chips. Kale is a nutrient-rich vegetable and also a good source of calcium, iron, magnesium and vitamin C. Kale chips are an easy way to introduce kale into the diet. Drizzle olive or coconut oil and sea salt over washed and dried kale pieces. Bake in the oven until crunchy.

SWAP 4: FLOUR TORTILLA WRAPS

Tortilla wraps for cos lettuce leaves. Cos lettuce is low carb and contains minerals. It’s gluten free and a great alternative to tortilla wraps containing flour. We love using our organic cos lettuce from fresh produce.

SWAP 5: SOY SAUCE

Soy sauce for coconut amino sauce. Made from aged coconut tree sap, it’s a tasty alternative to soy sauce that’s packed with flavour. Ideal for salads, dressings, stir-fry, sushi, soups, or with rice and beans.
